A writing desk is the centre of a study or a library, and a quiet piece in a drawing room or a bedroom. The form has been stable for centuries — a rectangular working surface at sitting height, supported on legs or a pedestal, sometimes with drawers, sometimes with an integrated set of pigeonholes or a leather-topped writing surface — and the brief for a modern bespoke desk usually carries the same vocabulary, with cable management integrated for laptops and chargers.
The workshop builds writing desks at residential and contract scale: a single desk for a private study, a partner's desk for two people working facing each other, runs of identical desks for offices and members' clubs. Construction is the same as the wider casegoods catalogue.

The standard form — a writing surface 140–180 cm wide, 70–90 cm deep, supported on two pedestals each containing a column of drawers. Pedestal desks give the working area underneath enclosed storage at each side of the user; the kneehole between the pedestals is sized for comfortable seating with a chair.
A traditional form — a writing desk with a leather-inlaid top, often gold-tooled along the border, set on a hardwood or metalwork base. Leather tops give a warm working surface that does not slip a pen and ages into character over time. Specified into private libraries, studies and reception offices.
A larger desk sized for two users facing each other across the same working surface. Partner's desks are usually 200–240 cm wide, 100–120 cm deep, with drawers and pedestals at each end so both users have storage. Specified into family studies, husband-and-wife working spaces and certain partner-firm legal offices.
A contemporary writing-desk form with cleaner lines — veneer or lacquer faces, hidden cable management routed through the legs to a floor outlet, integrated power-and-data boxes flush with the top surface. Specified into modern executive offices, family offices and any working space that combines a desk-sized writing surface with daily laptop use.
A writing desk sized to double as a dressing table — a kneehole desk with a mirror that lifts out of the top, or a desk with a side-fold to reveal a vanity setup. Specified into combined dressing-room and home-office spaces.
Top height sits at 73–75 cm against most desk chairs. Width is set against the user — 140–160 cm for residential, 180–220 cm for executive or partner's desks. Depth sits at 70–90 cm — narrower for residential studies, deeper where a monitor and a desk lamp both share the space.
The top surface is the dominant decision. Leather inlays read as traditional and tactile; veneer reads as classical; stone or lacquer reads as modern. Cable management is set at design with the chair position and the floor outlet in mind; the cabling enters the desk through the back or a leg, and reappears at the top through a flush-mounted box.
Lead times run 10–14 weeks from approved drawings; sourced veneer and leather inlay can extend the schedule. Desks ship complete for residential briefs; long partner's desks ship in two pieces and assemble on site.
