Stone

Stone is used in furniture and joinery for surfaces that need to carry weight, resist moisture and age well — dining tables, kitchen islands, bar tops, vanity surfaces, hearths and decorative wall panels. Make Bespoke Studio works with marble, limestone, travertine, quartzite, onyx and granite, sourcing directly from quarries in Italy and Turkey.

Italian marble — Calacatta, Statuario, Carrara — remains the benchmark for high-specification residential work. Turkish quarries supply a broader range of colours and patterns across marble, limestone and travertine, at price points suited to larger hospitality commissions. Stone is selected in person at the slab yard where possible, ensuring that grain, veining and colour are approved before cutting.

Slabs are cut to the required thickness — typically 20mm or 30mm for tops, 12mm or 15mm for wall cladding — and finished to a polished, honed, leathered or brushed surface. Bookmatching opens adjacent slabs to create a mirrored vein pattern across a joint. Edge profiles, corbels and carved details are cut to specification. All stone tops are templated on-site after the supporting structure is in position.
