Reception desks need to balance presence with approachability. We tune their scale, height and detailing to the room they sit in, and to the way teams work day-to-day.

• Primary reception desks – Main check-in desks sized for peak flows, with clear guest approaches, DDA-compliant sections and well-organised back-of-house zones.
• Concierge and host desks – Smaller points for concierge, host or porter functions, often set away from the main counter but using the same language.
• Podium and satellite desks – Light-touch desks or podiums used for check-in at busy periods or events, often coordinated with wider lobby joinery so they can ‘park’ neatly when not in use.

Reception desks concentrate power, data and security systems – from PMS and telephony to CCTV and access control. We integrate these so that guests see only a calm, organised surface.

• planning cable routes, floor boxes and containment to avoid ad-hoc trunking and visible wiring
• allowing for monitors, telephones, payment terminals and scanners without cluttering the guest edge of the desk

Wayfinding, flow and accessibility

Reception and lobby joinery has a direct impact on how legible a building feels. We use joinery to support intuitive wayfinding and inclusive access.

• providing task lighting to work surfaces without creating glare for guests across the counter
• using integrated lighting within shelving and display to bring depth to lobby walls

Working with architecture and sightlines

Lobbies are often double-height, glazed on multiple sides or visible from upper levels. We consider reception and lobby joinery from all of these vantage points.
