Commercial Joinery

Bespoke hotel bedroom & bathroom joinery

Make Bespoke Studio has produced guestroom joinery for five-star hotels and boutique properties across the UK and Europe. Guestroom packages typically include the bed surround and headboard, minibar unit, wardrobe, desk and chair, bedside tables and bathroom vanity.

All hotel joinery is specified to FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) schedules and manufactured to match the room's material and finish plan. We are experienced in high-volume hotel production and have robust processes for consistent quality across multiple rooms.

In Detail

Guestrooms carry a huge amount of the guest experience. From the moment the door opens, the way wardrobes, headboards, desks, minibars and storage are handled quietly signals how well the hotel is put together. At Make Bespoke Studio we design and deliver complete hotel guestroom joinery packages for hotels, serviced apartments and members’ clubs – working closely with interior designers, architects and operators.

The role of joinery in the guestroom experience

Guestroom joinery does much of the heavy lifting in a hotel room. It guides how guests move, where they unpack, how they work, relax and sleep. Done well, it feels intuitive and reassuring; done badly, small frustrations accumulate.

We see the guestroom joinery package as a coordinated family of elements – rather than isolated pieces – tying together decisions made on Headboards & Bedroom Feature Joinery, Wardrobes & Dressing Rooms, Media Walls & TV Joinery, Home Bars & Back Bars and Fitted Storage & Alcove Units.

Typical components of a guestroom joinery package

While every brand and property has its own requirements, most guestroom joinery packages share a familiar kit of parts. We adapt and refine these to suit room types, locations and operational needs.

Room types and brand layers

Most hotel and serviced apartment projects involve a mix of room types – from compact standards to generous suites. We develop a core language for the joinery package, then tune details and capacities for each type.

Storage, luggage and housekeeping

Storage is a key measure of how well a guestroom works. Guests need to unpack easily and keep things tidy; housekeeping needs clear, practical layouts.

We frequently apply principles from Wardrobes & Dressing Rooms and Fitted Storage & Alcove Units to guestroom layouts, adapting them for hotel operations and brand standards.

Desks, media and multi-use furniture

Guestrooms increasingly need to support hybrid use – work, video calls, dining and leisure. We design desks, consoles and media units that quietly adapt.

Where guestroom layouts incorporate specific work-focused zones, we draw on approaches set out under Home Offices & Study Joinery.

Lighting, controls and services

Much of the guest’s interaction with a room happens via joinery – switches at the headboard, sockets at the desk, charging points by the bed. We integrate these carefully so that technology supports the stay without dominating it.

These integrations are developed as part of our wider Bespoke Joinery process and coordinated with project MEP and AV teams.

Materials, durability and housekeeping

Guestrooms are used intensively, with frequent changeovers and regular cleaning. Materials and details need to be robust, cleanable and consistent with brand aspirations.

We build palettes from our Materials library – timbers, veneers, lacquers, laminates, stones, composites and metals – and align them with stylistic cues set out on Joinery Styles.

Accessibility, safety and compliance

Accessibility and safety are built into guestroom joinery from the outset. We work with the wider design team to align layouts and details with relevant standards and brand guidelines.

Working with architecture and brand

Guestroom joinery sits between architecture and brand. It has to respond to real constraints – structure, windows, services – while reinforcing the character of the hotel or club.

In members’ clubs and lifestyle hotels, we often reference details from Amenity & Members’ Club Joinery and Reception Desks & Lobby Joinery to keep language consistent between guestrooms and public areas.

Our process for hotel guestroom joinery packages

Our approach to hotel guestroom joinery follows the same clear stages as our wider

Bespoke Joinery work, with additional emphasis on repeatability, brand consistency and coordination with services and operations.

  1. Brief & brand review We begin by understanding brand positioning, room types, target guest profiles and operational priorities, as well as any existing standards.
  2. Room, planning and services review We review plans, sections, typical rooms and MEP information – or visit site – to understand constraints, views, adjacencies and repeatable conditions.
  3. Layout options and typical elevations We develop options for typical rooms and suites, testing wardrobe, headboard, media and desk layouts, and how they respond to doors, windows and bathrooms.
  4. Technical design & coordination We produce detailed joinery drawings showing construction, internal layouts, services integration, fixings and junctions with walls, ceilings and floors.
  5. Prototyping, mock-ups and samples We support sample rooms and mock-ups with refined drawings and material boards, aligning with adjacent scopes on Types of Joinery and ensuring consistency with wider Hospitality Joinery and Amenity & Members’ Club Joinery packages.
  6. Production & installation Guestroom joinery packages are manufactured through our network of workshops and installed in coordination with main contractors and services teams, with careful setting out, first-article approvals and on-site adjustments to suit real conditions.

Connecting guestrooms into the wider scheme

Guestrooms do not exist in isolation. They sit within a wider ecosystem of joinery across public areas, amenity spaces and back-of-house.
