• Screens, panelling and quiet thresholds – full-height and partial-height joinery elements that modulate privacy, views and acoustics, drawing on Wall Panelling & Architectural Joinery and Internal Doors & Screens.

Wet areas, materials and detailing

Spa and wellness joinery has to perform in demanding conditions – moisture, temperature variation, products and intensive cleaning. We pay close attention to substrates, finishes and detailing so that pieces age well.

We develop palettes using our Materials library – including moisture-resistant substrates, specialist laminates, lacquers, stones, composites and metals – and align them with stylistic directions on Joinery Styles.

• selecting appropriate substrates and edge details for wet and semi-wet zones
• detailing plinths, upstands and junctions so that water is managed rather than allowed to sit
• choosing hardware and mechanisms that cope with humidity and regular cleaning products

Operations, housekeeping and back-of-house

Behind the sense of calm in a spa is a busy operational layer – linens in and out, products restocked, treatment rooms turned over. We design joinery to support this rhythm without breaking the atmosphere for guests.

• planning towel and robe flows from central laundry or BOH stores to local cupboards and open displays
• providing discreet waste and used-linen bins within joinery, with easy access for staff
• allowing for staff-only storage and prep areas close to treatment rooms and pools
• coordinating back-of-house doors and access panels with visible panelling so they almost disappear

Integration with services and specialist equipment

Spa and wellness joinery has to accommodate plumbing, drainage, ventilation, heating, AV and specialist equipment – often within tight footprints. We integrate these early so that guests see only a calm, resolved surface.

Lighting, mood and sensory experience

Lighting and joinery work closely together in spa environments. We design joinery to hold lighting in ways that support calm, legible and adaptable spaces.

• integrating soft lighting to niches, shelves and plinths to give depth without glare

• using full-height joinery and screens to soften views into changing or relaxation areas from more public routes

1. Brief & operational review We begin by understanding guest profiles, spa concept, treatment menu, operating hours and staffing – as well as any brand standards or consultant inputs.
2. Plans, adjacencies and services review We review plans, sections, MEP and specialist spa information – or visit site – to understand adjacencies, services routes and views.
3. Layout options and zoning We develop joinery-led layout options, testing the placement of lockers, vanities, treatment consoles, towel stations and refreshment points along the guest journey.
4. Detailed design & coordination We produce detailed joinery drawings showing construction, internal layouts, substrates, finishes, services integration and junctions with walls, floors and ceilings.
5. Materials, samples and mock-ups We prepare focused samples and, where helpful, support mock-ups of key areas, aligning them with adjacent scopes on Types of Joinery and ensuring consistency with wider Hospitality Joinery and Amenity & Members’ Club Joinery packages.
6. Production & installation Spa and wellness joinery is manufactured through our network of workshops and installed in coordination with main contractors, MEP and spa specialists, with careful setting out and on-site adjustments to suit real conditions.
