Bespoke furniture
A built-in bed is a sleeping space integrated into the architecture of the room rather than placed against it. The bed is held inside a fitted alcove, a box construction or a full-wall composition; the headboard, bedside surfaces, lighting and storage are all part of the same fitted piece, scribed to the wall and finished as joinery rather than as freestanding furniture.
The workshop builds built-in beds for children's rooms, guest rooms, mezzanine sleeping platforms, snug rooms with daybed-style beds, and superyacht and hotel guestroom programmes where the bed is engineered into the cabin or room as a single object. The construction is fitted joinery; the bed cushion or mattress sits inside the constructed nook; the surrounding shelving, lighting and storage are detailed at design.

A bed sized to fit inside an alcove or constructed box, with the headboard formed by the back wall, integrated reading shelves at the side, and storage below the mattress platform. The alcove or box reads as part of the wall — sometimes panelled in to match the wider scheme, sometimes left as a clean architectural opening. Specified into children's rooms, guest rooms and snug-room sleeping nooks.
Beds sized to act as both sleeping and seating — a raised mattress on a platform that can be sat on during the day, with storage steps leading up and integrated drawers or cupboards underneath. The form has carry-over from boat and superyacht cabin design; specified into children's rooms, snug rooms and any tight-footprint sleeping space.
Two or three stacked beds in a single built-in unit, with integrated ladder, reading lights at each berth, side rails for the upper bunks and storage at the base. Bunk beds are specified into family children's rooms, hostel-style guest accommodation and yacht crew cabins. Mattress proportions are set by the brief; safety rails meet the relevant regulations for residential or commercial use.
Beds that fold up into a cabinet against the wall when not in use, releasing the floor space for daytime use of the room. Murphy beds are specified into home offices, guest rooms, studio apartments and snug rooms where the room serves more than one function. The mechanism is engineered to be operable by one person; the cabinet face is finished to match the wider room.
Bed compositions where the headboard is the architectural moment — full-wall upholstered or panelled headboards with integrated reading lights, side shelves and bedside cabinets all built into a single piece. The bed itself sits within the composition. Specified into primary bedrooms and into hotel guestroom programmes.
Mattress dimensions drive the layout. Standard UK single, double, king and super-king mattresses are widely available and supplied by the client or sourced through the workshop; bespoke mattress sizes (yacht cabins, alcove beds, custom platforms) are made-to-order with a mattress supplier and timed with the install. The mattress is dropped into the built-in carcass after installation, never trapped inside it.
Integrated lighting is set at design with the room's electrical scheme in mind. Reading lights at the headboard are usually 2700–3000 K warm white, dimmable, with localised switching at each side. Cabling runs through the fitted carcass to a wall outlet; the driver is hidden in the headboard or a base compartment.
Construction is the same kiln-dried hardwood and panel carcass used across the workshop's fitted joinery. Bed bases use slatted hardwood or sprung bases to specification; storage uses hand-fitted hardware with soft-close on residential pieces. Lead times run typically 10–14 weeks from approved drawings for residential built-in beds; longer for hotel programmes and yacht installs against the wider fit-out programme.
