Our partners manufactured furniture and joinery items in collaboration with D&D London for this iconic Grade 1 listed Quakers Friars building. Klosterhaus is composed of a glamorous restaurant, bar, event spaces and outdoor terraces. Executive Head Chef, Bjoern Wassmuth and Head Chef Rhys Grayson have created a range of menus that showcase Mittel-European cuisine alongside German classics inspired by Bjoern's German heritage.

Make Bespoke's partners supplied bespoke furniture and joinery for the restaurant and bar areas, producing pieces that complement the building's heritage setting, robust enough for a high-volume operation while refined in their material and construction. Custom seating, table bases and bar joinery elements were among the key pieces produced for this landmark Bristol venue, each finished to a standard that honours both the Grade I listed building and the restaurant's ambitious design brief.

The building itself is medieval — the former Dominican Friars’ refectory at the centre of Bristol’s Quakers Friars quarter, with vaulted stone, original oak ceiling members and high arched windows still in evidence. The brief required new joinery that could sit comfortably alongside that historic fabric without competing with it: clean lines, warm timbers, and finishes chosen to read as a quiet addition rather than a contemporary overlay.

Our partners produced bar joinery, banquette frames and decorative casework across the restaurant and event spaces, working closely with the heritage consultant to ensure every fixing detail respected the listed envelope. Materials were specified for both wear under restaurant service and visual coherence with the building’s palette of stone, lime plaster and aged oak.
