The Project

Bespoke furniture, banquette seating and pyrolave cladding for The BoTree London — a 200-room hotel at the intersection of Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho

The BoTree opened in 2023 on the former site of the Welbeck Street car park — a piece of Brutalist London replaced by a bronze lattice façade of twisting fins designed by EPR Architects. The hotel operates as part of Hilton's Curio Collection, with 200 guest rooms and 32 suites across a corner site at the boundary of Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho. Interiors were designed by Concrete Amsterdam, working to a Conscious Luxury philosophy that runs from material selection through to the colour-changing ceiling installation in the lobby.

The public programme is substantial. A ground-floor bar, two restaurants — including a rooftop dining room — a live music venue, a private screening room with its own street entrance on Henrietta Place, and a two-storey underground nightclub sit alongside a fitness centre and spa. The interiors share a botanical design language throughout: bold florals, natural textures, and a material palette chosen to read as warm and considered.

Our commission covered bar seating with laser-cut metal bases in The BoTree Bar, Pyrolave volcanic lava stone cladding in the bar spaces, and banquette and gallery seating for the underground nightclub. The brief across all three was for pieces built to meet the quality of the surrounding architecture and to perform under sustained high-occupancy hospitality use.

The BoTree Bar

Bar seating, laser-cut metal bases and bold botanical upholstery

The BoTree Bar occupies the ground floor and is designed to operate as a public destination in its own right. The banquette seating features laser-cut metal bases — a detail that introduces precision to the silhouette without reading as industrial. Fabric selections were curated specifically for the hotel, carrying Concrete Amsterdam's botanical brief into the upholstery: bold florals and natural textures chosen to hold their character under the demands of continuous use. The bar runs from mid-afternoon through to late night, so both the materials and the construction were specified to perform accordingly.

Pyrolave Cladding

Volcanic lava stone, fired in vivid colour

Pyrolave is a volcanic lava stone that takes a vitrified colour finish fired directly into its surface. It appears in The BoTree Bar as wall cladding — natural in origin, vivid in colour, and impervious to moisture and impact. The colour is permanent; the surface behaves well in the conditions a busy bar environment demands. Our scope included supplying and installing this element, extending the commission beyond furniture into the material fabric of the space itself.

Nightclub Seating

Banquette and gallery seating for a two-storey basement

The underground nightclub runs across two basement storeys. The brief called for banquette seating with padded backrests and gallery seating configurations suited to a space that operates at extremes: full room, low light, sustained high energy. The forms are substantial — scaled to hold their presence in a large basement volume — and the upholstery specification accounts for intensity of use. The botanical design language that runs through the hotel continues here; the seating palette carries it into the basement without diluting it.
