Clivedale Office

Our partners worked directly with the team at Clivedale to produce a set of stunning pieces for this family office based in Mayfair. By using ebony and rosewood in a high gloss, coupled with polished brass, and straw marquetry detailing, a real sense of grandeur is brought to this spectacular working environment.

Each piece was conceived as a statement of craft and material quality suited to a principal office where design and client confidence are inseparable. The studio's specialist woodwork and metalwork facilities were both engaged, from the intricate marquetry panels to the hand-polished brass hardware, resulting in a suite of furniture that meets the exacting standards expected at this level of private commission. All pieces were produced in the studio's London factory and installed with the level of precision the materials demanded.

A family office is not a regular workplace brief. It is a principal’s working environment as much as a private room, and the joinery has to communicate the same level of intent as the rest of the residence behind it — quiet authority, very high material quality, no hospitality or commercial-grade compromise. Ebony and rosewood were selected for grain consistency and laid up in high-gloss lacquer with hand-polishing between coats; brass hardware was solid throughout, hand-finished rather than plated.

The straw marquetry detail was hand-laid on selected drawer fronts and door panels — a finish that reads as a fine textile from a distance and resolves into individual split-straw rays at close range. The work brought together our partners’ specialist woodwork and metalwork facilities and a dedicated marquetry bench, with samples signed off against the designer’s reference imagery before production began. Installation was carried out by the studio’s own install team to keep the final fit and the lacquered surfaces under the workshop’s own hand.
