Country House

Interior designer Laura Hammett brought her signature approach, refined luxury grounded in quality of material and restraint of detail, to this private country house commission. Make Bespoke Studio was engaged to produce the bespoke lighting and furniture, working to Hammett's precise brief to deliver pieces that would hold their place within a scheme of the highest calibre.

Handmade in the studio's London factory, each piece was developed through close collaboration between the studio's craftsmen and the design team. The commission reflects the studio's experience working alongside leading residential designers, where the expectation is not simply quality but an exact alignment between design intent and executed result.

A country house at this scale changes how the joinery brief is read. Rooms are large, ceiling heights are generous, and pieces that would carry a London townhouse comfortably can read as undersized once installed. The brief here ran to furniture and lighting of corresponding visual weight — tables with depth and presence, fittings sized to the room rather than to a catalogue.

Material choices for a country property tend to favour timbers that age well and finishes that improve with use rather than show wear: oiled oak, waxed walnut, hand-polished brass, hand-applied lacquer over carefully selected veneer. Each piece was sampled and signed off against the designer’s reference imagery before production began, then dry-fitted in the workshop and again on site before final install.
