Cinnamon Kitchen

Cinnamon Kitchen is the contemporary Indian restaurant and bar in Broadgate, London, from the acclaimed Cinnamon Collection. Part of chef Vivek Singh's group of restaurants, the Broadgate location serves an open-plan dining space with a theatrical open kitchen at its heart, a format that shaped the entire interior design approach.

Make Bespoke Studio's partners manufactured bespoke furniture and joinery for the restaurant's dining spaces, including custom banquette seating, bar counter joinery and feature pendant lighting. Each element was designed to complement the kitchen's open, theatrical layout, combining precision craft with the energy and informality of the Cinnamon Collection's contemporary Indian dining offer.

The Cinnamon Kitchen Oxford forms part of The Cinnamon Collection by renowned Indian chef Vivek Singh, which includes contemporary Indian restaurants: The Cinnamon Club, Cinnamon Soho and Cinnamon Bazaar. Following the success of the flagship restaurant in London, DesignLSM were asked to help create a sister offering for the Cinnamon brand, which would be their first site opening outside of the capital. Located in ‘The Rooftop Gardens’ within the new Westgate Shopping Centre, the restaurant, with furniture by our partners, offers relaxed all-day dining featuring a striking outdoor garden terrace, which allows diners to take in resplendent views of the City’s famous spires.

The interior palette draws on the spice trade routes that gave the restaurant its name — warm copper, oxidised brass, deep teal, charred timber and Indian-influenced tile patterning — reworked in a contemporary register rather than as pastiche. The challenge across the joinery package was to translate that material vocabulary into pieces that could withstand a high-cover, all-day service in a busy retail-led location.

Our partners produced banquette seating, bar joinery and feature display casework for the restaurant interior, with detailing carried through to the terrace bar. Finishes were specified for resilience under both daytime sun on the rooftop and the heavier wear of an evening dining-room environment.
