Kensington Mews

This beautifully considered mews house in Kensington commissioned Make Bespoke Studio to produce a comprehensive joinery and loose furniture package. Set across a meticulously refurbished property on Ensor Mews, the project required pieces that balanced a refined contemporary aesthetic with the intimate proportions of a London mews home.

The studio produced bespoke fitted joinery and freestanding furniture throughout, with material selections and detailing developed to work in harmony with the architecture. Clean lines, considered proportions and carefully chosen finishes ensure that each piece feels both purposeful and quietly distinctive within its setting.

Pieces were produced across the studio's woodwork and finishing facilities in London, with all elements dry-fitted and checked before final installation. The result is a cohesive interior in which every furniture piece, from storage joinery to occasional seating, reads as part of a considered whole rather than a collection of independent commissions.

A mews house has its own logistical character. Narrow access, tight staircases and ceiling heights that don’t forgive an oversized piece all set the production brief before the joinery design is even resolved. Components were sized for the route in, with carcases broken down where required and reassembled on site rather than carried as single pieces through doorways they would not pass.

Within those constraints the brief still ran to a full fitted-and-loose furniture package. Material selections and finishing were resolved at workshop stage and dry-fitted in full before delivery, with the install team carrying the final coats so that the finishes — not just the joinery — could be closed off in person at handover.
