Our Murano workshop has been in continuous operation since 1969, over half a century of Murano glass production on the island itself. Set in the Venetian Lagoon, the historic centre of Italian glass-making for over seven centuries, the workshop is led by Venetian master glassmakers (maestri vetrai) whose training begins in childhood and whose practice draws on techniques developed and refined since the thirteenth century.
Work here covers two related disciplines. Murano chandeliers are hand-blown and hand-assembled, with each element, the central body, the floral arms, the leaves, the rosettes and the drops, produced individually at the furnace before being fitted together by hand. Designs range from traditional ciocche following the historic Venetian forms to contemporary sculptural pieces designed in dialogue with the studio. The workshop is EN 60598-1 certified (the European safety standard for luminaires), meaning every chandelier and lighting piece meets formal European safety and electrical standards. This certification matters for commercial and hospitality installations where compliance is non-negotiable.
The workshop also produces hand-blown Murano glass objects: vases, vessels, sculptural pieces, decorative bowls and feature objects designed to be installed as standalone statement pieces or as part of a wider commission. Colours, internal techniques (filigrana, sommerso, incalmo) and surface treatments are agreed during the design phase, and prototypes are made at the furnace before final production begins.
Murano, Venetian Lagoon, Italy.
Historic centre of Venetian glass-making.
Specialist crating and freight to projects worldwide.
Murano has made glass for more than seven hundred years, its furnaces gathered onto a single Venetian island by decree in the thirteenth century. The workshop draws on that unbroken tradition of master glassmaking.
Glass is gathered, blown and shaped at the furnace while molten, then annealed slowly to set its strength. Colour and form follow techniques passed down through generations, developed in sample with the design team for each commission.
